UDAYAN upholds high standard and quality research in multidisciplinary areas of Social Sciences in general and education in specific. It provides a common forum for representatives of discipline of education as a subject, Social service, Sociology, Education, educational Psychology, Political issues, Economics, Rural Development, Women’s empowerment career guidance and counselling and other disciplines of social science and interdisciplinary subjects which shares an interest in the study of Sustainable Development. The journal endeavors to create a body of knowledge around the interface of various functional and theoretical areas of Social and Sustainable Development. It is expected to serve as an independent forum for the academia, social workers, researcher’s, civil society activists and development professionals across the globe to carry forward a candid and objective discussion on common issues and prospects of sustainable and social development. The journal strives for bringing out empirical and conceptual clarity to the social issues and challenges with the answer of sustainability. The Journal seeks to enhance understanding of the sustainable development through the integration of knowledge base, empirical evidences and innovative practices to contribute to the planning and implementation of suitable measures for national and regional development and policy formulation at different levels. The main priority of the Journal is to unveil indigenes and modern approaches of sustainable and social development to create a space for assimilating the both in accordance with the current trends that leads to sustainability in all spheres of human life. 

Papers published in UDAYAN is purely on the basis of Merit. There is no fees charged to authors.

The journal publishes Bi-annually in June and December of every year. 

UDAYAN shall publish contributions in the following categories:

  • Articles
  • Research Paper/Original papers
  • Brief Reports
  • Case Studies

Guidelines for Authors

  1. All submitted manuscripts must be original work that is not under submission at another journal or under consideration for publication in any other form. In case the authors have received financial/technical assistance for completing the manuscript, they should acknowledge the same in the manuscript so as to avoid conflicts of ownership.
  2. After submitting the manuscript, until the editorial decision is communicated or if the manuscript is accepted for publication, without prior approval from the editor, authors cannot publish the manuscript in other publication.
  3. Maximum length of the manuscript should be between 3000-6000 words.
  4. Main attachment should contain full text content including title of the manuscript (limited to 12 words) at the top, an abstract of no more than 200 words and up to 6 Key Words.
  5. Author’s names should not appear on anywhere on the body of the manuscript to facilitate the referred and blind review process.
  6. The text should be double spaced and should be typed in Times New Roman style with a font size of 12 pts and 1 inch margin all around. Use standard indentation for paragraphs.
  7. Footnotes should appear at the bottom of the page on which they are cited/ referenced.
  8. Tables and Figures should be numbered in Roman Numerals and can appear either in the body of the manuscript or at the end of the manuscript. Sources of data used in both tables and figures should be duly acknowledged as a footnote to the same. In case some abbreviations and acronyms are used in the tables and figures, these should be duly described in the main body text of the manuscript where they have been cited/ referenced/interpreted and well as in the footnotes of the table/ figure.
  9. Tables and figures appearing at the end of the manuscript should be duly referenced in the main body text where these have been interpreted.
  10. All Figures (charts, diagrams and line drawings) and Plates (photographic images) should be of clear quality, in black and white. For figures which cannot be supplied in MS Word, acceptable standard image formats are: .pdf, .ai, .wmf and .eps. If you are unable to supply graphics in these formats then please ensure they are .tif, .jpeg (.jpg) , or .bmp at a resolution of at least 300dpi and at least 10cm wide.
  11. Research Methodology used in the manuscript should be explained in detail and all equations should be consecutively numbered using Arabic numerals in parentheses.
  12. Sources of data used in the study should be duly acknowledged and the procedures used to convert raw data into usable data should be explained in detail.
  13. At the end of the manuscript, References within the text and at the end of the paper should be in the style prescribed in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

Review Policy


All received manuscripts are initially scrutinized for suitability within the journal. If found suitable, article will further be sent to a reviewer for blind review process. Identity of author/s is not disclosed to the reviewer. Based on their feedback, editor decides to accept, reject or revise the paper. Normally review process takes around 3 months to provide feedback to authors.

Copyright Policy


Submitted manuscripts must be original work of the author that is not under submission at another journal or under consideration for publication in any other form. If author’s piece of work infringes any existing copyright, publisher will have to be indemnified for any such breach by author.

Plagiarism Policy

Once a manuscript is submitted to UDAYAN, the editorial office conducts a preliminary check with respect to plagiarism. If plagiarized content is less than 15%, the author may be asked to revise the manuscript. If substantial plagiarism (>15%) is noticed in manuscript content or part thereof, the manuscript is straight away rejected. UDAYAN reviewers also conduct the plagiarism check in a similar manner and can make recommendations whether or not to consider the manuscript further. Even after acceptance of the manuscript or post-publication, if the plagiarism/duplication/re-publication of already published work in any language is observed, the case is referred to the UDAYAN executive board who conducts a full inquiry giving due opportunity to the concerned authors. In case of violation of provisions contained in author agreement or of grave and unethical misconduct as a researcher with respect to publishing the work, the published article may be retracted with no refund/adjustment of manuscript handling fee under intimation to authors’ institution/funding agency.
